梅耶（Antoine Meillet，1866—1936），是19世纪末20世纪初继索绪尔之后最有威望、影响最深远的法国语言学家。 1866年出生于法国木兰（Moulins）。自1877年在木兰班维尔古典中学攻读古希腊文和拉丁文，到1936年逝世这五十多年期间，研习了许多印欧系语言和方言，并先后在东方语言学院、高等研究学院以及法兰西学院等教授比较语法和各种语言。 梅耶毕生从事语言教学与研究工作，著作等身。他一生对语言研究特别是历史比较语言学的研究做出了巨大贡献，其主要著作除本书外还有：《印欧语比较研究导论》、《印欧语方言》等，在语言学史上占有重要地位。

菲利普・托赫冬（Philippe Torreton)，1965年出生于法国鲁昂，母亲是小学教师，父亲是加油站服务员。1990年进入法兰西喜剧院，一直活跃于戏剧和电影界，颇有成就。曾获1997年恺撒电影节最佳男演员奖。除《外婆，外婆》外，还著有《仿佛那就是我》《戏剧爱好者 的小辞典》。

刘震云，男，1958年5月出生，河南新乡延津人。1973年参加中国人民解放军。1978年复员，在家乡当中学教师，同年考入北京大学中文系。1982年毕业到《农民日报》工作。1988年至1991年曾到北京师范大学，鲁迅文学院读研究生。1982年开始创作，1987年后连续发表在《人民文学》《塔铺》、《新兵连》、《头人》、《单位》、《官场》、《一地鸡毛》、《官人》、《温故一九四二》等描写城市社会的“单位系列”和干部生活的“官场系列”，引起强烈反响在这些作品中，他迅速表现出成为大作家的潜在能力，确立了创作中的平民立场，将目光集中于历史、权力和民生问题，但又不失于简洁直接的白描手法，也因此被称为“新写实主义”作家。其中《塔铺》获1987-1988全国优秀短篇小说奖。
